The Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts believes that increased access to and understanding of technology can greatly influence the well-being of our community. As such, we run, promote, and participate a number of technology-related progrmas, including:

Boston Area Advanced Technological Education

The Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts is the only community-based organization serving on the Board of this innovative approach to developing academia curricula for a technology workforce initiative. It is the pathway of a national educational response to industry demands in their fields of technology expertise.

Technology Advantage Partnership

The Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts has conceptualized, developed and deploys a Thin Client Virtualization Enterprise distributed solution, providing office applications and computer based training software to nonprofits within Boston. The intended design is to deploy an eLearning solution, while offering network administration support, provide data storage and distribute intranet email services to nonprofits within Eastern Massachusetts.

The Timothy Smith Network, in partnership with various community organizations, provides comprehensive technology services to residents of the greater Roxbury community. People of all ages have access to state of the art computer technology and to programs as rich in diversity as the neighborhood the network serves.

Virtual Anywhere User Library Technology

Developments in technology allocations, i.e. eRate, have given libraries opportunities to extend the delivery of their services beyond the branch libraries. Through the Virtually Anywhere User Library Technology project the Boston Public Library, in partnership with the Timothy Smith Network and other community-based intitiatives, has expanded its presence into every corner of the city.

Wireless In Dudley Initiative

Wireless in Dudley is a community technology access pilot project developed by a consortium of local (Boston area) organizations representing the fields of technology, commerce and community service. It delivers Internet access via a Wireless "Hot Spot" positioned within a fully interactive kiosk hub, in which a portion of (T1) bandwidth is provided by The Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts.
